Cattle farmer impressed with McCormick tractors
The Eastern Cape region of South Africa is affectionately known as the livestock capital of the country. Here livestock and dairy farmers focus on wool, mohair, beef and milk production with grain and citrus some of the other flagship commodities.
It is here that Morné Cloete farms with a Jersey herd, a Sussex stud and a commercial cattle herd. The dairy and the stud herds constitutes the two main focus areas of the business. They also plant maize for silage.
“In 2006 we bought our first McCormick tractor and at present we have four. We use the tractors for all general work on the farm – from field preparation and planting to making hay and baling and to move fodder from camp to camp.”
He says that they are really impressed with the tractors’ handling ability and other attributes. “The tractors are easy to drive and use, not difficult to maintain and the diesel consumption is low and cost effective.”
Cloete also compliments their local dealership, McCormick Agri in East London. “The staff at the dealership are always willing to help with all our enquiries. They do their best to sort our problems. It is a pleasure to be associated with the dealership.”
