McCormick made a big impact at the 2015 World Ag Expo farm machinery show, held February 10th through 12th in Tulare, CA. This year, all eyes were on the newly expanded X4 series. These new models drew a lot of attention for their size, features and capabilities. “These new machines have the size and equipment that the market demands,” says James Burnside, District Director for McCormick. “The competition really doesn’t have anything that can directly compare to the new smaller X4 models.” The complete X4 lineup consists of six different models ranging from 61-102 rated engine horsepower. Offering both a short wheelbase and long wheelbase configuration, the X4 Series can fit just about any application.
Also on display for the first time in North America, the new X6 Series tractor turned a lot of heads. With two models offering 111 and 121 rated engine horsepower, the X6 was built as a versatile utility tractor to handle many jobs around the farm. “The X6 is really a modern day evolution of several successful legacy tractor lines from McCormick,” says Burnside. “We built upon the successes of our prior models to create a machine that is rugged, versatile and capable.”
Not surprisingly, the new X1 line of compact tractors drew a lot of attention as well. Offering impressive features, and an equally impressive “Free Loader” program, the X1.35 display model was sold on the first day of the show right out of the booth. “The customer was impressed with the 62 degree steering angle of the 4wd front axle, as well as the rugged chassis and heavy base machine weight,” says Burnside. “It had exactly what the customer needed in a compact tractor for the right price.”
Overall, the McCormick brand at the show was well received, and it continues to be favorably compared to the industry leaders like John Deere and CNH by show attendees. When farmers enter the McCormick booth with purchase information from John Deere and CNH, it only further validates the McCormick brand as a major agricultural tractor line in North America.
