McCormick, a brand of the Argo Tractors industrial group, will be presenting its latest new products, a synthesis of power and technology, at Eima, the trade show in Bologna dedicated to farming equipment (7-11 November). Among the many new additions to range, the X7.6 P6-Drive series, the prestigious finalist in the Tractor of the Year 2019 contest, takes centre stage.
The McCormick X7.6 Series is available in five models, X7.650, X7.660, X7.670, X7.680 and X7.690 with horsepower starting at 151hp, up to the 225hp power output of the X7.690 model, recently added to the range.
The X7.6 P6-Drive has been thoroughly updated for enhanced comfort and performance and added on-board technology, making the vehicle user friendly and reducing maintenance costs. Its key strengths remain the high quality of the materials used, care for detail, the spacious and quiet cab, a machine that’s easy to drive.
The 6.7-litre 24-valve engine is a Stage IV / Tier 4Final that uses the DOC and SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction) systems for exhaust gas treatment and has no DPF (for lower maintenance costs). The Cooling Matrix system facilitates opening of the under-hood radiators for unrivalled cleaning convenience.
Transport mode is enhanced by the Exhaust Brake system that, in combination with the throttle valve of the turbocharger, enables the operator to reduce engine rpm by operating the engine brake, this reduces brake wear during long hill descents as the operator can easily check the speed of the vehicle.
The transmission offers 30 forward and 15 reverse gears thanks to 6 Powershift gears and 5 ranges. With creeper option, 54 and 27 speeds become available, respectively. The Smart Auto Powershift feature facilitates automatic shifting between gears and ranges, the electronics choose the correct gear for the job in hand, with no need for operator intervention. This shifting pattern also gets the vehicle to its maximum road speed much quicker.
The Stop & Action system controls forward movement and braking through the brake pedals that double as de-clutch controls, switch on the system and now the transmission will stop and start off automatically enabling the P6-Drive transmission to drive almost like a continuously variable transmission.
Two versions of the X7.6 P6-Drive are available: the Premium version features the CCLS closed-centre hydraulic system with up to 123 or 160 l/min pump and up to 8 electro-hydraulic remote valves, a 12″ DSM touchscreen monitor capable of supporting a rear/front camera, and Advanced HMF management for optimal control of headland operations. The Efficient package offers the same engine and transmission configuration as the Premium version, however it is equipped with an 88 l/min Open-Centre hydraulic system. Efficient models feature mechanically operated remote valves and some minor changes in cab controls and lighting packages.
The revised styling includes a steering wheel with satin-finished steel inserts, a spacious and quieter cab thanks to materials derived from the automobile industry.
Driving comfort is enhanced by the Eazysteer electronic steering modulation feature in combination with the satellite guidance options provided by Topcon Agriculture.
Cab comfort is enhanced with either the mechanical cab suspension system the new electro-hydraulic Semi-Active Anti-Damping system with adjustable ride settings through the DSM screen.
The independent front suspension system enhances comfort on the road and greatly benefits grip and stability.
The high technological level of this tractor includes the McCormick Fleet Management, a system designed to measure the efficiency of the vehicle in terms of fuel consumption, operating hours and service reminders, all integrated in a portal that allows fleet managers to maximise use and monitor operating costs.
The McCormick X7 Series uses an ISObus-certified system to manage the operation of implements compatible with this technology through a dedicated menu, included in the 12″ touchscreen DSM monitor.
The McCormick exhibit at EIMA will be supplemented with the top-of-the-range 310-hp X8 VT-Drive model, the 6 and 4-cylinder X7 models with VT-Drive transmission, the new utility tractors of the X6 Series with horsepower ranging from 110 hp to 126 hp and with the newly introduced suspended front axle, and the X6.4 family in the Xtrashift and VT-Drive configurations, the latter of which was awarded Tractor of the Year 2018 in the Best Utility category.
