Performance, versatility, design and comfort: the McCormick X6 Xtrashift. Thanks to DOC-DPF-SCR technology with closed-centre hydraulics, suspended cab and axle, the new member of the Argo Tractors family with a Stage V engine is positioned brilliantly in the Utility category for open-field operations, haymaking and for typical farm activities, enhancing performance and efficiency, optimising style and ergonomics.
There are two models of the range powered by a 16-valve 3.6-litre F36 engine: X6.125, capable of producing 119 horsepower, rising to 126 in the X6.135 version. The introduction of innovative solutions and an increased fuel tank capacity from 150 to 170 litres ensure a 10% reduction in fuel consumption, and therefore a longer daily range. Maximum torque has also been increased, with both models reaching 518 Nm at 1300 rpm.
The hydraulic system has also been completely renewed, switching to a 110 litres/minute closed circuit (CCLS), with 38.5 litres for steering. The solution ensures greater hydraulic performance and increased productivity in front loader operations, while reducing fuel consumption and noise during operation. 34 litres of oil can be taken out, plus an extra 10 litres with optional tank to operate tipping trailers. There is also “Power Beyond”, the system that guarantees the use of the full 110 l/min flow rate. There are seven spool valves, two of which are ventral and three mechanicals, as well as a flow selector that doubles the outputs and a solenoid valve for implements that require certain flow rates, with the possibility of an additional two spool valves, also at the rear and also electronic.
The transmission ensures the right speed for each specific application. This is thanks to the tried and tested 36+12 scheme with HML (3 speed under load) and Reverse Powershuttle with modulated engagement. The speeds become 48+16 thanks to the creeper. As an option, “Park-lock” – a brake system with a gear in the transmission – is available to guarantee full safety.
The installation of the Stage V after-treatment system and the out-of-view SCR system under the bonnet not only gives the vehicle a compact design in line with McCormick’s new family feeling, but also full-frontal visibility. Visibility is fully enhanced by the 4-pillar cab and the wider sunroof with opening hatch for natural ventilation of the cabin. All front loader operations are therefore made easier, as is night work thanks to the 10 LED work lights.
Operator comfort is ensured by the mechanical cab suspension system with 96 mm cylinders and by the ergonomic solutions adopted on the control console, which features a new joystick for loader, hitch and half-speed engagement. The option of a suspended front axle with brakes further enhances road transport comfort.
The electronically controlled rear power lift provides a load capacity of 6,000 kilograms, while the auto PTO system activates/deactivates the PTO at a given hitch height. There is also an anti-pitch system to compensate for uneven ground during work and transport.
Optional are the M30 front loader and front hitch that can lift 2,250 kilograms, with front PTO.
Other features pushing the envelope include on-board technology with satellite guidance (consisting of the X25 Monitor, AGS-2 Antenna and AES-35 steering wheel, which help the tractor to work with a precision of 2 cm on a set course) and the ISObus system, which allows the tractor to communicate with implements, ensuring efficiency and control of consumption on the work site. Moreover, thanks to McCormick Fleet & Remote Diagnostic Management, it is possible to manage the tractor fleet by reducing operating costs and establishing machine productivity through the control of working parameters and tractor telemetry. Remote diagnostics, on the other hand, allow machine downtime to be reduced by intervening remotely for software updates.
